How you can Help:
change the world, one home, one family at a time.

Description:
We are a homeownership program for hard-working families in need of a decent, safe, and affordable home.

Programs and Projects:
How the Habitat Program Works
Habitat for Humanity is a homeownership program. We sell our homes to families who go through a rigorous screening process and participate in building their home. The homes are sold at no profit to Habitat and with a no-interest loan. Families make a down payment and also contribute 250-500 hours of sweat-equity to help build their own home, as well as the homes of other Habitat families. Their monthly mortgage payment helps fund more Habitat homes. Our homeowner families also participate in Home Buyer Education classes which help foster increased economic independence and self-reliance. Families who qualify to purchase a Habitat home are currently in need of decent, stable and affordable housing, are willing to help build their home, and meet our financial requirements.

How We Change Lives
Habitat for Humanity is about so much more than building houses. We build houses so that families can break the cycle of poverty, and have a firm foundation upon which to build better lives. According to a recent survey, 99% of local Habitat families have set different goals for themselves since moving into their Habitat home and 100% feel better about their future. Because of the increased stability homeownership offers, children do better in school and families become more involved in their community. "Before Habitat, I didn't know that there was more to life than just living paycheck to paycheck," says Dani, Habitat homeowner since 1993.

How You Can Help
We depend on the donations of time and money to make the Habitat program work. We raise our funds locally through individual donations, home sponsorships, as well as other sources such as grants. Volunteers are also an integral part of the Habitat for Humanity program. Volunteers (both skilled and unskilled) help build the homes alongside our partner families as well as serve on committees, help in the office or help at our Habitat Home Improvement Outlets. By donating or volunteering you can become part of something lasting and profound.

We can't end poverty housing alone, so please join us . . we have many more homes and lives to build!
